Mercedes-Benz, Lufthansa partner on designing luxury private-jet interior

Mercedes-Benz and Lufthansa have announced a partnership to design an ultra-posh cabin for private jets, last week in Geneva at the 2015 European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE).

Mercedes-Benz as an automobile company is reputed for its unique luxury automobiles. With this announcement, Mercedes venturing into a new kind of luxury by coming together with Lufthansa Technik, the aviation engineer arm of the Lufthansa Group.

According to reports, the idea created by the two companies removes the traditional description between ceiling, wall, and floor designs. Rather, the new interior concept uses spiral layout, which combines the three design elements into a continuous, flowing feature. Mercedes-Benz Style, the company’s non-automotive design firm, and Lufthansa Technik hope to use the concept to arouse interest from their discerning customers.

The on board, black panels used in the prototype design floats in front of the window are to induce the screen-design of a Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedan. The interior is also equipped with Mercedes-Benz Magic Sky technology that can turn the black panels from dark to transparent.

“It was an inspiring challenge to transfer our design philosophy of sensual purity into the area of aeronautical engineering,” Daimler AG vice president Gorden Wagener said in a statement. “The spectacular architecture of the interior shows creativity and modernity. Sensual surfaces and clear forms, combined with intelligent high-tech features and perfectly shaped modern luxury are the characteristic features of Mercedes-Benz design.”

Don’t be surprised that this interior may soon be installed in some rich man’s Boeing BBJ or Airbus ACJ soon.
