Adedeji Osinloye is the convener of Limitless Expectation to Attaining Purpose (LEAP), UK, who has been helping young people discover their purpose. In this interview, he tells TLR, how he has been making a difference in purposeful leadership. Excerpt:
Can you tell us about LEAP?
L.E.A.P stands for Limitless Expectation to Attaining Purpose. It is an annual leadership event that seeks to help young people discover, develop and maximise their potentials in God.
Our drive is to re-emphasize the essence of purposeful living through identifying God’s purpose for our lives, developing and growing in his will and pursuing the mandate of heaven for our lives.
We feel saddled with the responsibility of raising leaders with a mission to influence and impact our world by taking charge of our lives, understanding the assignment or purpose of God for our lives and pursing it.
LEAP has been holding for five years now and we are so privileged and honoured to have great leaders in diverse fields and works of life grace our stage to bless us with their experiences, aspirations and success stories.
The Vision is to continue to raise hungry young believers who are so passionate about being what God has called them to be and also be the best at it.
LEAP has being a vision laid in Osinloye’s heart since he was in the university.
What informed the idea?
It has being a vision laid in my heart since I was in the university by the Holy spirit and I did start off from there, but a greater need also arose here in the UK as I felt that at this time young people do feel trapped in a bubble built up for them by their parents, families, society and even peers therefore making them loose God’s vision for their lives and some do understand what their purpose in life seems to be but lack the drive or insight to get to it. This actually did propel us to push forward this initiative to reach out or stretch forth our mandate to those we have being called to
serve.
Why do you think that kind of platform is necessary in the UK?
At a time when we do have limited options for mentors and the society does not avail that privilege to lead young people to be what God has designed them to be, I must really say there is no better place or platform to do this at this time than here and now.
Who are you targeting with leap?
Our targets are young people or young adults. We would also say young at heart. We are not restricted to an age group however we are focusing on the young people in our society at the moment.
Are you planning to extend your reach to Nigeria?
Oh definitely we would go anywhere God leads us to go, at the moment our focus is where we are at the minute but we do intend to grow in capacity and influence.
Osinloye offers leadership teachings and principles through LEAP
How has it been received?
Amazing I must say, we have had great young professionals in different industries speak to us from young entrepreneurs, to sport men, authors, and motivational speakers. The list remains endless. I think one of our greatest pride was last year’s event, when we had people who have attended the event previously coming out to showcase their new businesses and ideas. It was like telling us, we heard you guys and we acted on it. This actually re-affirms hope and also creates a platform to network and mentor others as well.
What kind of programmes do you offer?
We offer leadership teachings and principles, career workshops, mentoring and success coaching. Our mission is to create leaders who would drive industries and show forth as lights with great integrity.
How do you fund your programmes/events?
I would say we are self-sponsored and over the years we have enjoyed great support from our local church. We also have loads of young individual volunteering to offer various services where necessary. This is really being so remarkable finding people who believe in the vision and devoting themselves to it. It is a wonderful thing
How easy as it being to push your ideas about LEAP?
Every vision has its challenges, year in year out we have had different kinds of challenges but I must say we just try not to be discouraged or overwhelmed by them. We learn each year and try to get better as the year progresses.
