Switzerland has been the epicenter of movements for watches. Many watch collectors in Africa especially Nigeria have caught the bug of Swiss Movement in watches. It is not a surprise that ahead of the Baselworld new and existing watch brands are giving visitors sneak preview into what to expect at the Baselworld taking place from March 21 to 26 2019 at Basel City, Switzerland.
Some Swiss Exhibitors are pleased to share an overview of the timepieces that the Swiss watch brands, both small and large, have patiently imagined behind the scenes in order to finally unveil them at the Baselworld 2019. Below are some of them:
Strom’s Nethuns II Colorum
The Etruscan god of the sea, Nethuns symbolises the perpetual cycle of water flowing from sources to streams, rivers to oceans, before evaporating into the sky to be reborn as rain. The Nethuns Colorum II collection is water resistant to 200 metres, thanks to a unique construction that includes a sculpted outer case in either 925 silver or a special bronze alloy made of copper and tin. This outer case is fitted over a watertight inner case that holds the movement. The dial is made in a choice of bold colours, including red, blue, turquoise and orange, which are the best colours for readability under water. Each dial colour has a rubber strap to match. A sturdy screw-locked crown at the 9 o’clock position operates an internal bezel that times dives without being susceptible to inadvertent adjustments. An eternal renewal, like the life which flows through us. This watch comes with a Swiss-made mechanical automatic. It has hours, minutes, seconds, rotating inner bezel operated by the screw-locked crown at 9 o’clock.
The case comes in bronze (CuSn8) or 925 solid silver with steel inner case. 48 mm x 54 mm, domed glare-resistant sapphire crystal and anti-allergenic titanium curved back. Water resistant to 200 metres (20 bar/666 ft).
You can make a choice of orange, red, blue or turquoise with white luminescent hour-markers dial.
Also, the bracelet comes in orange, red, blue or turquoise rubber with pin buckle in silver or bronze depending on your colour preference.
Faubourg de Cracovie Salmon Sockeye by Czapek
The Sockeye is part of CZAPEK & CIE’s new Faubourg Cracovie salmon collection of watches, named after famous salmon species from the Pacific Ocean. The dial design was inspired by a bespoke piece created for a collector who requested a watch from the Quai des Bergues line with a salmon-coloured guilloché dial and blue hands and numerals. The dial of the Sockeye is made of alloy 401, a combination of 55% gold and a mixture of platinum, palladium and silver with an electroplated salmon finish. It was made by the craftspeople at Metalem, Czapek’s partner in Le Locle. The steel case houses a high frequency (36,000 vph) automatic movement, the calibre SXH3, an outstanding integrated column-wheel chronograph movement, bearing the COSC Chronometer certification and made by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier. It comes in Llmited edition to 18 pieces.
The movement is Mechanical automatic, Czapek SXH3 calibre built by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier. Column-wheel chronograph with vertical clutch and linear hammer, 36,000 vph, 65-hour power reserve.
It functions hours, minutes, seconds, chronograph hours, minutes and seconds, date.
The case is stainless steel, 41.5 mm. Finely sandblasted and diamond polished anthracite bridges, snailed trottoirs. Crown protectors serving as chronograph pushers, sapphire glass-box crystal with anti-reflective treatment, sapphire crystal back. Water-resistant to 50 metres (5 bar/165 ft).
The dial is handcrafted domed guilloché with exclusive Czapek “Résonance” design. Contrasting subdials, baton applied indexes, Super-LumiNova hands, numerals and indexes; while the strap is made of alligator skin with steel deploying buckle.
Artya Son of Earth Tobacco
The gold bezel and lateral inserts of the ArtyA Son of Earth Gold Tobacco are intricately hand engraved by one of the most talented engraver of the world Bram Ramon, creating a look that is truly unconventional. It frames an even more unconventional dial, which is fully clad in genuine tobacco leaves delicately hand “dialized” by Swiss artist Dominique Arpa-Cirpka. “Working with living materials is always a challenge,” explains Yvan Arpa. “We had to stabilize the material to make it as lively and expressive as possible, whilst ensuring it would stand the test of time. After carrying out a great many tests, we can now guarantee that the Tobacco will age just as well as the timeless passion of its owners.” The mechanism behind this unique piece is an exclusive ArtyA Aion automatic COSC certified movement. A unique watch, numbered 1/1.
It comes with mechanical automatic ArtyA Aion, COSC certificated, 50-hour power reserve movement with hours, minutes, and seconds functions.
The case is made of 316 stainless steel with black PVD treatment, 44 mm. Hand-engraved gold bezel and lateral inserts, double anti-reflective sapphire crystal. Water resistant to 30 metres (3 bar/100 ft).
The dial is made of real tobacco leaves.The bracelet is made of Black Crocodile or hand-stitched leather with pin buckle.
Charriol Lady Marie-Olga Watch
This elegant jewellery watch is inspired by Marie-Olga Charriol, wife of the company founder and an accomplished equestrian rider. Subtle details of the design are inspired by her passion for classical riding, which is linked to watchmaking by the same timeless values: rigor, purity, transmission and passion. The silhouette of the watch reflects the gestures of the rider on her horse, combining voltes and figures, movements performed by the horses. The stirrup-shaped lug at 6 o’clock on the case also emphasizes the equestrian theme. The dial is mother-of-pearl, with a shimmer of watercolor shades, and the case is set with diamonds. Charriol’s signature steel cable is lightweight and ultra-feminine, a symbol of the strength and loving spirituality of women.
It comes with Swiss ETA quartz plus hours, and minutes function. The case is stainless steel, 32 mm x 24 mm, optional setting with 89 diamonds on the case (0.85 carat).
The dial is white mother-of-pearl, two Arabic numerals, 10 diamond indexes while the bracelet is stainless steel composed of 16 woven cables of 1mm diameter. Decorative clips and safety clasp in stainless steel yellow or pink gold PVD treatment, set with 59 diamonds (0.37 carat).
