Stepping into Harbour Point Event Centre on Victoria Island, Lagos, led guests into another world full of glamour, class and panache. It was a night that witnessed some of Nollywood’s finest walk the red carpet at the unusual premiere of Banana Island Ghost (B.I.G) last Sunday.
How an event centre could be turned into a cinema would remain on the lips of those who attended for a long time to come. Biola Alabi, the film producer is sure a crowd puller, to say the event was well attended is not an exaggeration at all.
The premiere played hosts to Ali Nuhu, Saidi Balogun who both featured in B.I.G, Tomiwa Edun, Lala Akindoju, Akah Nnani, Uche Jombo, Damilola Adegbite, Dorcas Fapson, Ozzy Agu, Lord Frank, Makida Moka, Bimbo Ademoye, Linda Ejiofor, Tomi Odunsi, Beverly Osu, BBA Stars Bisola, Kemen and Uriel, and many more.
Banana Island Ghost, an action-comedy movie written and directed by BB Sasore, of the 2015 TV series, ‘Before 30’, tells the story of a ghost who believes he is not ready to go to heaven because he doesn’t have a soulmate. He negotiates with God to give him three days to fall in love with the woman of his dreams. Describing the kind of lady, he desires to God, he is paired with the crabby agitated Ijeoma, who has three days to save her father’s house in Banana Island from the bank coming to reclaim it.
The movie stars’ industry best Chioma ‘Chigul’ Omeruah(Ijeoma), Patrick Diabuah(Ghost), Bimbo Manuel(God), Ozzy Agu, Lala Akindoju, and others.
Bimbo Manuel brings to life his role as God showing some of His attributes. He must have put in a lot of effort to deliver that role. Also, the role of Ijeoma depicts the experiences most ladies go through. Chigul delivers the role very well. For many reasons, it is an impressive movie with a superb cinematography.
The movie is a must to watch. Taking a stand from the movie on Christianity, it shows what our relationship with God should be like where the Ghost talks to God (Bimbo Manuel) at every point he needs help and seeing how God is quick to answer him is very amazing.
The movie will start showing at cinemas nationwide on the August 4, 2017. It is the first of five films to be released by BAM-NEMSIA Pictures, a coproduction partnership between Biola Alabi Media (BAM) and Nemsia Films.
