Foremost French footwear and fashion designer, Christian Louboutin, has opened a new bag line for charity.
The Christian Louboutin tote bags have been designed in support of La Maison Rose, a charity that provides homes and vocational training for vulnerable young Senegalese women.
Depicting West African arts and crafts, the oversize Africaba has beaded leather straps and is covered in panels of colourful graphic prints.
Each bag is handmade by the same women that La Maison Rose helps – many driven from their homes due to economic and domestic difficulties as creativity is an integral part of their rehabilitation. Ten per cent of the profits will go to the charity, which plans to open a larger workshop for training women in artisanal skills.
